Relief Society Organization (RESO)
Relief Society Organization (RESO) is a non-profit, volunteer-led organization that has been operating in Kismayo districts since its establishment in 2015. The organization’s primary focus is on the protection, promotion, and respect of human rights and fundamental freedoms, as well as empowering youth and women with skills for sustainable development and democracy. RESO advocates for their rights to education, employment, health, and participation in decision-making processes, aiming to make youth agents of socio-cultural change, political transformers, and contributors to economic development.
RESO is committed to becoming a leading organization in the delivery of humanitarian and developmental services. It specializes in areas of education, health, protection, peacebuilding, justice, shelter, and social change, striving to ensure that every young person can exercise their rights and fully participate in shaping the nation’s future for lasting change.
The organization’s mission is to improve the quality of life for vulnerable communities by promoting and protecting human rights, encouraging peace and democracy, and fostering civic education. RESO empowers youth and women to become agents for change in society and encourages them to speak up to pursue lasting solutions to their problems. The organization aims to strengthen their capacity in peace-building, disseminating democracy, promoting good governance, and enhancing healthcare and food security while fostering respect for cultural diversity.
Despite being a relatively young organization, RESO has implemented several successful programs in Kismayo, Jubaland State of Somalia. The organization has a team of dedicated youth educators leading its efforts, and they are committed to making a positive difference in the lives of those they serve.
