Somalia Gender Hub
Somalia Gender Hub is an NGO that aims to create a rich online reserve of data and research on gender and women’s rights and the situation of Somali women. By building a hub for sharing knowledge, experience and history, they can become the main reference point for experts, researchers, policymakers, advocates and the public on gender equality and women’s rights. Their work drives collaboration and research and results in improved outcomes for Somali women.
They believe that with an improved knowledge management system, the governments, local NGOs and international partners will be able to provide more timely, effective and informed responses to address gender inequalities and women’s rights.
Somalia Gender Hub provides capacity by building support to government departments, local and international organisations and Somali researchers working on gender and women’s rights They do so by: Organising workshops on subjects such as data analysis, research methods, research writing and publishing and Setting up online groups to enable peer support, coaching and mentoring.
They monitor and evaluate progress on the policies, laws and advocacy initiatives which support gender equality and women’s rights. Another way to contribute to its objectives is to do advocacy work on FGM and facilitate initiatives taken by Somali Women. Last, they collaborate with partners ADRA and the Puntland Women Writers Association (PWWA), to support online campaigns to further gender equality and women’s rights globally.
